Rainy Zurich Still Feels Like a Fairy Tale Village / Affordable Capsule Hotel Recommended in Expensive Switzerland

Today, we take the train to Zurich, Switzerland! I booked the hotel near frankfurt HB, so it’s easily walk to the station. The train we booked requires one transfer. I bought the ticket online, and you just need to go to the platform listed for your destination. Your ticket will have a seat number, and based on the letter on the ticket, you can find the boarding location. Tickets aren’t checked when boarding; instead, during the transfer, we had our tickets scanned with a QR code inside the train. It’s convenient to print the ticket or download the code on your phone in advance.

While waiting for the train, I grabbed a quick breakfast to-go. The shops in the station open early, so even if your train is early, you can buy a simple sandwich or salad to eat on the train.

Train travel is all about enjoying a meal on board, right?

I had a falafel salad, bread, and coffee. I wanted to get the same pretzel I had yesterday because it was so delicious, but it was sold out, so I got a different bread. (But honestly, the one from yesterday was tastier. Haha.)

Boarding the Train to Interlaken~~

Arriving at Zurich Central Station! It’s so beautiful. It feels different from Frankfurt, which is fascinating. As I walked to the accommodation, it started raining heavily, so I bought a 15-euro umbrella from a convenience store. Haha, I should have brought a small umbrella from Korea. BTW Why is it raining so much?

the way to accomadation

Walking up to the hotel!! If the weather were nice, it would be perfect to sit outside with a cup of coffee… What a pity… The capsule hotel costs around 150,000 won per night. It’s expensive, but relatively cheap for Switzerland, where the prices are insane.

Haha, inside, it’s cozy, and the shower and bathroom are cleaner than I epxect. I booked a double room with my aunt, and the space is large and nice. The only downside is that, being a capsule hotel, it can be noisy if neighbors are loud, making it hard to sleep. But still, a new experience! (It was a bit noisy at night with people coming and going to shower and some talking on the phone…)

yogurt

We went to a supermarket, and it’s a yogurt paradise…  They have every type of yogurt imaginable, with many different flavors. Yogurt lovers would be thrilled to eat a different one every day while traveling in Europe >,,< (I almost ate a different yogurt product every day! So happy!)

beer and wine for dinner

In the evening, we had beer and wine at a café. If you want to have dinner in Europe, I recommend making a reservation in advance. Otherwise, restaurants might be fully booked during dinner time, and you could miss out. We initially planned to have a simple meal, but everywhere was full, so we ended up eating lightly at a café. The atmosphere was great, and the owner was kind, making it a pleasant time.

The photos can’t capture it all… The streets, water, sky, and nature in Switzerland are on another level. Truly breathtaking scenery… I definitely want to come back when the weather is nice.

The next day, we headed to the bus stop with a bit of regret. It was within walking distance, but the cobblestone streets made it hard to pull our suitcases, so we took the tram instead.

You can buy tram tickets at  the tram stops.

Near the bus stop was a Starbucks! I ordered  sandwiches and muesli, and they were so delicious! Maybe it’s just my mood, but why does everything taste better in Switzerland? Haha. The focaccia and croissant sandwiches were all amazing, and the muesli was top-notch!

I highly recommend taking the bus when traveling from Switzerland to Italy. The view is incredibly beautiful. I was so tired and sleepy, but the scenery was so stunning it was worth staying awake for. After about 4 hours, we arrived in Milan! 🙂 See you in the next post:)
